Unless your battery ends are getting a good connection with your battery itself, you will lose charge and the battery will run down fast. Checking your battery terminals weekly is a great way to keep an eye on corrosion and build-up on your posts and terminal connectors. A simple way to keep corrosion down, is to pour soda-pop over the terminals and posts of your battery, in between proper weekly/bi-weekly cleanings with a stiff wire brush.
Things You’ll Need: Stiff wire brush Cola
Step 1 In between wire-brushing the terminal ends of your battery, it is acceptable to use cola to rip through the corrosion that, incidentally, builds up while you're blinking! Step 2 Pour cola over terminals and posts of your battery. Step 3 As the soda-pop fizzes, it gets deep down to the nitty-gritty, cleaning the posts without actually having to remove the terminals. Step 4 When fizzing has stopped, wipe off excess soda with a rag and go on your merry way. You'll know your battery is getting a good charge.
